Day 1. Option 1 (including cultural interests & sight-seeing)

Hotel pickup in the morning, drive to Cai Be, then Tien Giang for a boat trip on the Mekong River. Sightseeing in the floating market, fruit garden and a coconut candy factory. Later we will drive to Xeo Quyet historical tourist site, where we will bird and and see the sights.

Lunch at Xeo Quyet.

Afternoon drive to Tram Chim National Park, then birding along the Park's boundary.

Overnight at Hoang Gia hotel.

Day 1. Option 2 (full-time birding, possible during November-March)

Pickup at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, drive to Tan Thanh beach in Go Cong for Spoon-billed Sandpiper (see also SbS tour)

Later, drive to Cao Lanh city and stay overnight at Hoa Binh hotel. We will take about 1 hour driving to Tram Chim in the next morning.

Day 2. Full-day birding in Tram Chim National Park, we will take a boat trip along river channels to Zone A1 to look for Eastern Sarus Crane, one species among many waterbirds present, including Purple Swarmphen, Brozne-winged & Pheasant-tailed Jacanas, Spot-billed Duck, Egrets, Herons, Bitterns, Kingfishers, and some waders. The songbirds that we should see are Grassbird (Striated Warbler), several different Reed-warblers (Black-browed, Oriental), Asian Golden Weaver, Baya Weaver, White-headed Munia, Golden-bellied Gerygone, Pied Fantail and others.

Overnight at Hoang Gia hotel.

Day 3. Morning birding, we will visit a bird colony at Zone A2 where many waterbird species nest.

We leave Tram Chim after lunch to drive back to Ho Chi Minh city; we might visit Cao Dai temple if there is interest in doing so.

Note: The Eastern Sarus Crane can be seen from February to May.

Bird highlights: Eastern Sarus Crane and waterbirds, Asian Golden Weaver.
